Stomperz is a church based dance group with a mission to mobilize and equip the young generation to work with Christ in reaching out to the world with the gospel, through their gifts and talents. Stomperz operates under the auspices of International Christian Centre (ICC).
This ministry was formed within Frontrunnerz, the Youth Ministry of International Christian Centre in early 1998 by a group of friends in order to use their talents and resources solely for the purpose of glorifying God through dance.
Their mission statement, found below, is taken from Psalms 149:3, which says ““Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp”.
Mission Statement:
To mobilize and equip the young generation to work with Christ in reaching out to the world with the gospel, through their gifts and talents. (“To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” Ephesians 4:12 )
Stomperz seeks to tap young people's powerful potentials in a bid to develop them for positive intent that will promote growth in the community. To effectively accomplish this, Stomperz has initiated the Stomperz Performing Arts (SPA) , which is an institute that seeks to identify, develop and award young people's performing arts. SPA seeks to invest in these talents with the express aim of having them appreciated by the community as they play a constructive role.
Now an established dance troupe, their goals are listed below:
1. Invest in the society through educating and involving the youth in community development:
Initiate community education through performing arts.
Involve SPA participants in viable community programs that will positively influence and meet the society's identified needs.
2. Curb social ills among young people
Maximize young people's idle time to develop their talents.
Teach the word of God, thus enhance spiritual growth.
Create healthy social forums where the youth can share their challenges and encourage one another.
Address key issues that surround the young people by offering counselling and relevant training.
Offer relevant training and information on issues that are a threat to lives of young people e.g. HIV/AIDS, alcohol, peer pressure and effects of media in their lives, as a preventive measure to these ills.
3. Develop servant leaders:
Involve SPA participants in voluntary DND (Down and Dirty); community activities that develop servant hood.
Expose SPA participants to leadership training and opportunities to develop their leadership skills.
Nature servant leaders that will significantly influence the community and help heal the leadership crisis in Africa.
4. Create healthy environment for young people to have fun as they express their energies
Provide alternative fun concerts and parties where young people can enjoy themselves without the influence and exposure to drugs, alcohol and sexual activity.
Develop young people through fun channels such as dance, drama, gigs, crafts and other creative arts
