Joseph Nans or Moxie was born on 18th June 1991 in Mumias District, Kakamega County. He is the son of Charles Oulo and Jane Oulo and was brought up by his parents together with his four brothers and two sisters, him being the fourth in the family. Coming from a humble background, Nans attended Ingusi Primary School in 2004, a local school in his village before he joined Lubinu High School in 2005, a provincial secondary school in his district. Nans started rapping back then in primary school with the inspiration of the late E-Sir. He could master all E-Sirs lyrics and start rapping them to his friends just for fun. However when he joined high school, he changed the trend and started corrupting other musicians’ hits and doing them to his friends just for fun, and he was the funniest MC then. He started writing his own songs in form two calling himself Moxie, meaning he had energy, courage and determination. His name Joseph Nans comes from his real name Joseph Nanjira and the “s” was added just to make it “cool”. Luckily after high school in 2009, he secured a self sponsored admission at the University of Nairobi in 2010 where he is studying Journalism and Media studies, his dream course, and in his stay in Nairobi he decided to work with Jomino Entertainment.
His first single “Zile Kali” meaning “the hottest ones” is a dedication to Kenyan artistes who are taking the Kenyan music industry to another level, a dedication to his fans to expect massive hits from him and as well introduces him in the music industry. His role model is father who despite not being educated has managed to provide both basic and secondary needs and his ambition is to be a Radio/ TV presenter. Nans loves listening to music so much. His other interests include; watching movies, swimming, socializing, making fun and of course rapping.
